Filipino maid (domestic worker) Gina Rumbaoa is a nanny, cook and a
housekeeper too. She is planning to go home when her work permit expires at
end July 2010 but would like to come back again after spending a couple of
weeks in the Philippines. This is subject to change and she is prepared to
come back earlier if a prospective employer so requests.
Background
From the province of Isabela, (about 10 hours from
Manila by bus) she is
28 years old
and single. Her father is a farmer. She is the youngest of 5 children and
the only girl in the family. She has a 2-year secretarial education and
speaks English fairly well.
Employment History
- She first worked for Tarik Ismael in Kuwaiti, from Sep 06 to Jan 08.
Her duties were cooking, laundry and cleaning. Her employer had two
children aged 18 and 19.
- Next she worked for Khoo BE (her current employer) from
Aug 08.
Her duties are childcare laundry cleaning. Her employer has children whose
ages are 1 5.
Childcare
Gina has taken care of 2 children aged 1 and 5 when she started working for
the family. Madam is working. While Madam is at work, Gina sees to their
meals and other physical needs. She would normally teach them writing,
reading and drawing. Some she would also tell them stories or read to them.
Gina loves children and looks forward to care of little ones in her next
situation.
Cooking
Gina learnt to cook Chinese food from Madam. However, as
Granny is always at hand, she often does the cooking for the family. When
she is busy or does not feel like cooking, Gina gets the chance to put into
practice what Madam taught her.
Some of the simpler dishes she has cooked for the family include:
- Fried rice, noodles (bee home for breakfast)
- Omelette
- Chicken curry
- Fish curry
- Stir fried vegetables
She would like to learn to cook more dishes if her next employer will teach
her or give her the chance to try out new dishes with the help of a cook
book.
Personality
Gina is neat and tidy in appearance, neatly dressed. She has a 2-year
post-secondary education for secretaries. She is soft-spoken, polite and
respectful.
