Indonesian maid (domestic worker) Yulianti Susi is a nanny, cook and a housekeeper too. She is now available for transfer.

Background
Susi is from Madiun, East Java, about 4 hours from Surabayar by bus. Her late father was of Chinese origin and her mother a native of Java. She is the eldest of 3 children in the family. Her mother runs a small business selling cooked food. Susi often helped out in the shop. Unlike the majority of the Indonesian domestic helpers we have come across, Susi has a high school education (12 years). Also, unlike the majority, she is a Christian.

Susi is a mother of 2 children aged 9 and 10. She is now divorced and has full custody of her children, now in her mother's care.

Employment History
Before coming to Singapore Susi had worked for two years in a clothings shop. She has worked in Singapore for about 3 years as follows:

  1. For 2 years and 3 months (from May 06 until Aug 08) she worked for a local Chinese family of 7: the parents and 5 children. 2 of the 5 were in primary school, the rest were in secondary school. Madam stayed at home and often did the cooking but there were many occasions when Susi did the cooking, such as when Madam was engaged in her social activities or when she travelled. The children were all fairly independent and Susi concerned herself only with the household chores occasionally attending to the youngest two. After 2 a little over 2 years, Susi went home.

  2. In Jul 09, she returned to Singapore, this time to work for an Indonesian family (pribumis). Madam is working and depends on Susi for the household chores. Of the 3 children in the family, only the youngest, 11 year old, needed attention from Susi. Otherwise Susi mainly takes care of the household chores.

Cooking
During the first 4 years of her marriage she was a housewife performing the duties she may now be called upon to perform, such as cooking. She can cook Indonesian food. In Singapore, during the first 2+ years when she worked for a Chinese family, she learnt to cook Chinese food from Madam. However, the family did eat out now and then and Susi did not have to cook everyday.

Childcare
Susi's childcare experience is confined mainly to her own children, now 10 and 9. She took care of them until they were around 6 and 7, when she came to work in Singapore. In Singapore, she did attend to 4 children of primary school-going age. She is fond of children, but prefers a position where the children are younger as her spoken English is not great.

Personality
Susi is neat and smart in appearance, though simply dressed. She is taller than the average applicant standing 155 cm. She is alert and fairly outgoing. Her spoken English need some improving. If she works for a family with school-going age, her English should improve.
