Filipino maid (domestic worker) Beth Baran is a nanny, cook and a housekeeper too. She is now available for transfer.

Background
Beth is an only child. Her father is the personal assistant to the Mayor of her hometown of Damulog, Bukidnon, in Mindanao. She has done 2 years of post-secondary studies in economics. She quit college when she became a mother. She is a mother of two now 4 and 5 years old. But she is separated from her husband.

Employment History
Before coming to work in Singapore, she has worked at temporary jobs as a sales assistant.

Currently she is working for one Albert F whose family consists of 7 persons: the parents and 4 children: triplets aged 11 and a 8-year old (at the start) and Albert's mother. She started working there on 31 Oct 08 but because of problems of communication with Albert's mother, her employer has decided to let Beth transfer to a new family.

For Beth's duties, general performance, see testimonial.

Cooking
Beth learnt to cook Chinese food with the help of cook books furnished by Madam. Granny cooks, but does not make a good teacher because of language barrier. So the first few attempts to teach Beth cooking ended nowhere.

She cooks Filipino food relatively better. While she was married, she lived with her parents and they both cooked at different times. She was a housewife for most of the 6 years since her marriage.

Childcare
Beth gets along well with her employer's 4 children, getting them ready for school, playing with them, attending to their meals. She is a mother of 2 children herself. She took care of her children with the help and advice of her mother - as she was living with her parents even after marriage.

Personality
Her employer describes her as hardworking with a pleasant disposition. Beth is alert, neatly and simply dressed. She is fairly outgoing and speaks and understands English quite well.

Update
Since 18 Jan 10, she has been with an Indian expatriate family of 5:

  • Employer and spouse
  • Their son aged 9
  • Madam's parents-in-law

Her duties are childcare, cooking, cleaning and laundry. During this period Beth has learnt to cook Indian food - with Madam as the teacher. Occasionally Granny cooks, but only when she misses some of those special dishes that only she knows how to cook. Unfortunately, Beth does not enjoy Indian cuisine.
